Membership is open to individuals working in archives and recordkeeping, as well as individuals in allied professions or those that support the Society’s objectives.

Individual Members can apply for Professional Recognition as:
- an ASA Accredited Member (post-nominal ASAAM) i.e. an individual member holding a university qualification in a course accredited by the ASA (or equivalent)
- an ASA Recognised Professional (post-nominal ASARP) i.e an individual member holding a university qualification (or equivalent), and a minimum of two (2) years of work experience at a professional level in archives and/or recordkeeping
- an ASA Accredited Professional (post-nominal ASAAP) i.e. an individual member holding a university qualification in a course accredited by ASA (or equivalent), and a minimum of five (5) years of professional work in archives and/or recordkeeping (two of which must be undertaken post-completion of the qualification).
