Margaret Jennings Awards for Academic Achievement

This annual award was instituted in 1989 as the ASA's Award for students completing an ASA accredited course in archives administration in the previous year.

Margaret Jennings Award

Established in 1989, this annual award originally recognised students who had completed a diploma course in archives administration in the preceding year.

In 1997 it was renamed the Margaret Jennings Award to honour Margaret Jennings, former Records Manager at the University of Melbourne, and a founding member and past President of the Australian Society of Archivists (ASA). She was a dedicated advocate for graduate programs serving records managers and archivists.

The award recognizes outstanding academic achievement during study in an ASA accredited tertiary course.

Recipients receive:

  • $310 in prize money
  • A 12-month membership
  • A certificate of achievement
  • An invitation to submit a personal article for the Society's newsletter
