The Australian Prime Ministers Centre was opened by Prime Minister John Howard on 21 June 2007. The Centre combines an exhibition with a research centre to tell the story of Australia's prime ministers. The Centre aims to raise public awareness of Australia's past prime ministers, and to provide a national focus for research and scholarship in this field. The Australian Prime Ministers Centre is a key component of the future Gallery of Australian Democracy, which will tell the story of the development of Australia's modern parliamentary democracy and our underlying democratic traditions, practices and values.

The visit will last about an hour, and will include a tour of the exhibition and research centre, followed by question time over wine and cheese in the APMC seminar room (formerly Prime Minister Whitlam's office).

Your hosts will be Michael Richards (Manager, Research and Collection

Development) and Linda Macfarlane (Manager, Australian Prime Ministers Centre).

Bookings to elizabeth.estbergs@act.gov.au by Wednesday 17 October are essential.
