Hosted by the ASA NSW Branch, this seminar is an opportunity for those managing archival holdings to hear about the latest developments in archival descriptive standards both nationally and internationally, and to see and hear about software products and strategies employed by archivists in small and medium organisations managing paper, audio-visual, and electronic records. The seminar is an opportunity for archivists to discuss the relative merits of available products for particular sectors, and to assess the range of strategies archivists employ.
Come with your questions ready and be prepared to engage with the latest theory and practices in NSW archives.
Speakers include Kate Cumming (Government Recordkeeping, State Records NSW) providing an update on latest national and international descriptive standards, and the ASA publication "Describing Archives in Context: A Guide to Australasian Practice". There will be demonstrations of custom-designed software from Mark Stevens (City of Sydney Archives), Anne Picot & Julia Mant (University of Sydney Archives), and Chris Hurley (Commonwealth Bank); plus a panel discussion on the on the use & merits of particular software products and archival control systems with Lyn Milton, (The Fred Hollows Foundation), Michael Smith, (University of Western Sydney) , Prue Heath, (SCEGGS Darlinghurst) and Judith Seeff, (Sydney Theatre Company Archives & Australian Theatre for Young People Archives).
