In 2000 the Society introduced this annual award in honour of Robert Charles (Bob) Sharman, colleague, foundation member and long serving supporter of the Society, in recognition of his significant contribution to the Australian Society of Archivists and the archival cause generally in Australia. The rules governing the award may be found here.
The Award is in the form of either direct financial assistance or other aid for selected members of the Australian Society of Archivists to attend the annual Conference of the Society. Such attendees will be selected from those members of the Society who for reasons of cost would be precluded from attending the Conference.
The Award will be in the form of financial assistance towards the cost of attending the October 2008 Joint ASA/ARANZ/PARBICA Conference in Brisbane (QLD), and will consist of the conference registration fee and, where appropriate, a contribution towards airfares or other travel costs to and from the conference. The cost of accommodation is not included.
