This SIG was formed following the Annual Conference in Alice Springs in
1996. The SIG holds regular meetings at the ASA Annual Conference.
Membership is small, but growing. A newsletter is produced with contributions welcome from members.
In 2004, with the support of the Records Management Association of Australasia, IISIG produced the brochure Pathways to your future and our past: careers for Indigenous Peoples in archives and records.
Support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in archives and
records is offered through the ASA Loris Williams Scholarship program
launched in 2008.
