CONVERGENCE 2001
Record keeping in a Digital Age
On behalf
of the Records Management Association of Australia and the Australian
Society of Archivists, we invite you to participate in our joint national
conference to be held in Hobart, Tasmania from 2 - 5 September 2001.
The conference will be held in Tasmania’s latest and most exciting venue,
and the home of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, at the Hotel Grand
Chancellor.
Preparations
for the conference in Hobart are proceeding at an ever-increasing pace
and we have already received over 250 registrations from delegates in
addition to excellent support from both sponsors and exhibitors.
The exhibition
will be officially opened on Sunday 1 September 2001 at a welcoming
cocktail party to be held in the Exhibition
hall. Meals and coffee breaks throughout the convention will also
be within the exhibition area, providing maximum exposure for informal
contact with delegates.
Presentation Area
As an
additional benefit to exhibitors, the organising committee is offering
specific and advertised times during the program to speak about and
explain their products. As the number of sessions is limited preferences
will be allocated very strictly on a "first-come" basis,
so if you are interested in participating please contact us as soon
as you possibly can.
A space
with seating will be allocated in the exhibition hall for this purpose
and a data projector and screen will be available for those wishing
to bring their laptops along to make an electronic presentation.
If you
are interested in participating or need any further information please
don't hesitate to contact Mike or Beth
at Convention Wise.
The conference,
which is expected to attract upwards of 600 delegates, including some
from overseas, will have as its theme "Convergence 2001 - Recordkeeping
in a Digital Age", and will cover the issues surrounding electronic
records such as distributed custody, data warehousing, e-commerce, preservation
and recordkeeping standards. You will find more detail at our main Convergence
2001 pages.
Without
doubt, this will be an exceptional opportunity for sponsors
and exhibitors to become involved in the
history-making first ever joint conference between the two major professional
recordkeeping associations in Australia.
