In 1993, the Australian Capital Territory branch of the Australian Society of Archivists organised a one-day seminar on ethics and the archival profession. This volume contains the proceedings of that seminar.
The seminar began with a keynote address, Professional Ethics: Promises and Pitfalls, given by Dr Joh Uhr, Public Policy program, Australian National University.
The major part of the seminar comprised panel discussions of four case studies in the following areas:
The proceedings include the panellists’ commentaries and subsequent discussions. The seminar concluded with a summing up.
The proceedings include some post-seminar responses, additional case studies and a copy of the Society’s Code of Ethics .
