One of the ASA's main activities relating to educational standards has been its long term involvement in the development of recordkeeping competency standards. These standards are applied in the Vocational Education and Training sector in Australia. They are contained in the Business Services Training Package, approved by the relevant industry training council, Innovation and Business Skills Australia (IBSA).
The new training package which incorporates the recordkeeping competencies, BSB 07, is expected to be available late in 2007. Details about the new training package will be publicised in the ASA Bulletin and via the aus-archivists listserv.
Another valuable source of information about core knowledge for archivists and educational frameworks for the profession is the joint ASA-RMAA Statement of Knowledge for Recordkeeping Professionals
