Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Special Interest Group was established in 1998. The SIG holds regular meetings at the ASA National Conference. A newsletter is produced with contributions welcome from members.

In 2004, with the support of the Records Management Association of Australasia, ATSI SIG produced the brochure Pathways to your future and our past: careers for Indigenous People in archives and records (see below).

Support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in archives and records is offered through the ASA Loris Williams Scholarship program, launched in 2008.

Information about upcoming SIG events is posted to the SIG's Archives Live page, as well as sent directly to SIG members.

ATSI SIG helps coordinate the Loris Williams Scholarship for Indigenous archives and records students and the Loris Williams Memorial Lecture, held annually at the ASA Conference.

The ATSI SIG Committee for 2016-2017, elected at our AGM held in October 2016 is:

Convenor: Kirsten Thorpe
Secretary: Nathan Sentance
Newsletter Editor: Hilary Rowell and Rebecca Bateman

ASA Members are welcome to join ATSI SIG.
