Fellow of the ASA

The award of Fellow of the Australian Society of Archivists is conferred on a professional member of the Society who has given at least ten years of distinguished service to the profession, to the theory, teaching or practice of archives work or to writing about archives. The nominee must have been a member of the society for ten years, at least five of which as a professional member. The Society’s Awards Committee considers nominations for this award and recommendations are forwarded to council for approval.

Distinguished Achievement Award

The Distinguished Achievement Award (previously called Laureate of the ASA) was inaugurated in 1993 and is conferred on a member of the Society who has been mainly or solely responsible for an outstanding development or achievement in archives work and who has been a member of the Society for at least seven years. The Society’s Awards Committee considers nominations for this award and recommendations are forwarded to council for approval. Please forward your nominations to the ASA Council.

Honorary Members of the ASA

The 'honorary' member category is a class of membership under Part 2 Section 4 (1) of the ASA Rules but following Council decision 24-25 July 1992 persons already appointed Honorary Members will continue to enjoy the prerogatives of that category, but no new appointees will be made.
